Jane Gardiner makes oil paintings and etchings shaped by the pull of the coast. Her work centres on sea, skin, light, movement, and the small shifts that happen where water meets land. The question of what might happen next is always present. Her figurative paintings follow the rhythms of wild swimming, while her etchings capture birds in moments of stillness and flight. Both strands of her practice explore solitude, connection, and the way bodies move through space. A considered palette, elegant line, and sense of calm run throughout. Working from her Glasgow studio, she continues to build a body of work that invites viewers to daydream a little - to step into the water, follow the tide, or watch the birds turn overhead.
